I'm bored, and I am curious. Everyone is always asking, "What is your favorite Ferrari?" or "What was the best Ferrari ever made?", so I'll switch it around a bit. I'm sure this has been asked before, but whatever, I'll ask anyways.
Based upon looks, mine would probably have to be the F512 M. Yes, I know, I'm putting my flamesuit on now. I just fail to understand how they turned something as beautiful as the 512TR into this monstrosity. The rear isn't too bad, but the front is just so damn hideous. It ruins every aspect of the entire car, in my opinion.
Based upon performance? Its gotta be the early Mondial. For obvious reasons. Yet, I think this is a way better looking car than the F512 M.
So, what is your least favorite?
EDIT: On a completely different note, have this depressing article. Even if it is just a Mondial, it is incredibly depressing. Bonus asshat parking on the third page.

348
Older Ferraris are cool because of their style. Newer ones are cool because of their performance. The 348 is in the gray area in between and just seems to fall flat to me.

It's probably a common answer, but the Mondial is the worst IMO

Since mondial was taken...

The F50, I think it looks hideous.
But then again, my favorite Ferrari is the 400i, so I'm weird.

308 GT4
Sure it had the V8 in the back, and the 70's wedge design was in full effect, some people even think it has aged well, but not I.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:32 |
|
Valid choice, for sure. I'm one of the few that actually likes the 348's styling. But, compared to other cars in the price range, it definitely fell flat in the performance section.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:33 |
|
Yeah, no doubt there. The only reason I put the 512M on my list is because I hate its looks so much. Overall, though, the Mondial was easily the worst.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:34 |
|
Ohhhh, good one. Forgot about the California. I completely agree with you on that one.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:35 |

This is a good point; while the Mondial had 4 seats and wasn't prohibitively costly to own, and the ugly F512M was incredibly well bred and evolved beneath the skin, the 348 was neither breathtaking nor reasonable to own. I'll have a 308/328 for being neat classics and easy to own, or a 355 for sounding like sex and being the last of the MR V8 Ferraris that I find completely pleasing to look at. The 348 is the awkward "what am I?" phase like an early 996 or 1.9 Z3 but on a more exotic level.

The F14T. Ugly & unsuccessful.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:36 |
|
That's a pretty good choice. Personally, I like the F50, but I can definitely understand where you're coming from.
While the 400i isn't my favorite, I definitely like it. By far, the most underrated Ferrari of all time.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:37 |

I dont think I have one I hate, but everyone seems to hate the Mondial, so I guess that for now.
Now, I've got a question for you.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:38 |
|
I have this complex with Ferrari that I don't have with any other car. I love them for making pure sports cars. I hate them for having a customer base who don't buy them for that reason. I love some of them for being absolutely gorgeous. I hate others for being irredeemably ugly. I love them for having screaming engines. I hate them for costing more than I could ever afford (pal). I love them for making the enzo. I hate them for making the enzo the way they did. So to summarize, I'm confused.
But I actually like the lowly Mondial and 208 gt4, I like the idea of being affordable, it's got pop up headlights, and character and some practicality. Same goes for the other undesirables, like the 612 scag. I always find something to like for some reason. This is extremely hard...
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:39 |
|
Good choice. The 308 GT4 has always been kind of neutral for me. I don't really like it all that much, but, at the same time, I feel incapable to hate it.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:40 |

I'll have to say trophy wife California. While it's not ugly, particularly slow, I'm afraid it's no Ferrari. While the ugly F512M was bold as a Ferrari must be, the California is so conservative. It also has a V8 up front and put driving dynamics second. With that said, I'd take a manual one over an F12 or 458. I think they made 10 and I'd kill for one.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:41 |
|
Lol. Very good choice. I really can't argue there.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:42 |
|
The Ferrari 348, "It's like that one time you got a boner in class just before standing up to present. Everyone noticed, it was awkward, and we don't like to talk about it."
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:43 |
|
The Mondial seems to be the norm of least-favorite Ferraris, for sure. Nothing wrong with that.
What would that question be?
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:46 |
|
Have a pic of a Mondial I saw last weekend before my question.
Now my question.
Would you like a ride in the 944 before it goes into storage this weekend?
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:46 |
|
still, I hate to see any car beat up like that one in Dubai
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:48 |
|
Gotta be the F40.
I keed, I keed.
Ferrari 195 cause it's fugly.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:48 |
|
:( I like how the F512 M looks. And that is a rather unflattering angle.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:50 |
|
You know what? I completely understand what you're saying, and I couldn't agree more. Especially with the customer base statement. (I Lol'd at the F&F reference, btw.)
I don't hate the Mondial's looks. As a matter of fact, I think it is pretty attractive. The performance aspect was so shitty, though, that it ruins the whole car for me. As for the 208 GT4? I love it. Nobody even remembers it, which adds to its coolness. The 612 Scag has always been kind of neutral for me; I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. It is supposed to be a tough question, that's the fun part!
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:53 |
|
I definitely agree on the California. Never liked it one bit. It has always been more of a luxury car for trophy wifes, as you said, instead of a true Ferrari. A manual one would be very interesting, but I still think I'd easily take a 458 or an F12. I just don't think I could ever own one without feeling slightly ridiculous.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:54 |
|
It must be the sunlight or the angle or something... but that 400i looks pretty sweet considering the era.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:55 |
|
All 400i look sweet, look at that slightly angled rear end!
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:56 |
|
I know :( It made me incredibly sad to read that. To think that someone paid massive amounts of money for that car back in the 80's, and now it is reduced to an abandoned pile of shit that nobody cares about. If I had the money, I would restore it. Just because I feel so bad for it.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:57 |
|
Yeah, I think the manuals will pack on a ton of value over the next few decades, but it would still be a tough decision. Considering the fact that 458s don't interest me all that much and F12s just have too much power according to everyone, I'd probably end up with the California.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 20:58 |
|
Yeah.......I hope someone takes it under their wing
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:00 |

Huh. Surprising to see one of those in Michigan. Wouldn't expect that.
And, if you're offering, I would love to! Do you have a time and place in mind? I could always bring the 'Vette if the weather is decent, if you want me to.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:04 |
|
Lol.
Jesus Christ, that thing is fugly. Forgot all about that. That's probably in my top 3 least favorites, for sure.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:05 |
|
It is a really bad angle. I like the rear of it, I just hate the front of it. I guess its just my tastes.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:06 |
|
Ferrari 360 modena. Not that it's bad, just everyone has one so it's kinda boring.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:06 |
|
Yeah, I know that few aside from myself seem to like it.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:10 |
|
Oh, for sure. No doubt about that one. Quite honestly, I'm not really much of a fan of any current Ferraris. If I had to choose one, I would pick the 458. But, as you said, even that isn't particularly interesting. The most recent Ferrari that I truly love is the 575M, and that is 8 years old.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:10 |
|
I literally went down the list of Ferrari road cars and at every single one I asked myself, "do I hate it? Yes, a little bit. Do I love it? A little bit as well."
If ferrari ever goes ahead and makes a red SUV and sells it for half a million dollars, that'll be my least favorite but until then I can't decide.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:14 |
|
I kind of like it. Definitely not my favorite by any means, though. It really isn't too exciting.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:15 |
|
It's the "meh" ferrari.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:18 |
|
The 575M is awesome! Modern Ferraris are targeting a much different group of buyers, I think. I really wish Ferrari had made an F512M that didn't look like a bad kit car, though... it's like the evolution from the '75 to '82 corvette underneath (which is to say great improvement from lots of minor changes), but the exterior really just messed it up
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:20 |
|
I gotcha. I sure hope they don't make an SUV. That would be the most utterly ridiculous thing they could possibly do.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:24 |

Howabout tomorrow? Name a place and time, since I'm quite mobile. :)
And since I've never been in a Vette EVER, YES PLEASE!
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:29 |
|
The 575M would probably be my third favorite, right behind the 355 Berlinetta and the 512TR. I would agree, if the 512M didn't look so bad, it would be a really great car. It, honestly, looks like a failed Fiero-Ferrari replica.
That is a good comparison. A lot of people discredit the later C3s for being consistant piles of shit. I'm glad someone else recognizes that it was gradually becoming a more refined automobile. In my personal opinion, though, they still looked great, and they kept improving right up until '82. Now, granted, I'm a major C3 fanboy, but still.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:34 |
|
look at this 348 and tell me honestly that it's your least favorite. I don't believe you can do it.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:35 |
|
hideous? Naa mate. Look at that profile and tell me honestly that it's hideous.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:38 |
|
I still don't like it, it's too round and bulgy.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:38 |
|
This ass is better.
As is this one.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:43 |
|
I'm just about with you on Ferrari favorites. And the late C3s were more of just cruising around, road trip cars near the end. I much prefer the C4, but the C3 deserves a lot more credit than it gets. It's funny to think that the C3 was sold off '60s nostalgia and old feel towards the end. No one can appreciate slow evolution in cars anymore, but by '82 the C3 was laughed at a bit. They are so cartoonish and neat that they aren't hard to appreciate as classics, obviously.

Tomorrow could probably work. I have to shuttle my sister around to tennis and other activities, though, so I might not be available until later on. Friday would probably work a bit better, but that's up to you, since you probably have plans on Friday. Tomorrow, anytime after 6:30 would work. On Friday, anytime after 2:30 would work. Are there any places in between that you can think of? I was thinking of somewhere in Waterford, but that's probably a longer drive for you.
So long as the weather is decent, then, the 'Vette will be there! I'm more than happy to bring it.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 21:54 |
|
We can never be friends. I'm sorry. That was too personal. Say that you like it a little? pls
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:01 |
|
Being that it had that back seat and the V8 from the sister 2-seat (308 GTB/GTS) I always felt it was the spiritual predecessor to the Mondial.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:03 |
|
They were definitely more cruisers, for sure. Compared to a lot of cars in the 70's, it still had sporting potential, but they were not blistering by any means. I definitely prefer the C4 to the 74-82 'Vettes, but, since the '68-'73 C3s are my favorite Corvettes, I would have to pick those over the C4. I will admit, though, that the C3 was extremely drawn out. Its insane to think that they made that same basic design last for 14 years. I still like the '82, but it truly wasn't good. First 'Vette since 1954 to be auto only? That just sucks.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:04 |
|
Waterford isn't that far at all. I can do 6:30 tomorrow. I work generally the entirety of the day on Friday.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:05 |

Good point! I never thought about it that way. That makes perfect sense. I'm always going to think of it that way now.

I like the gated shifter
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:23 |

The 360. For reasons included in this picture ;)
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:28 |

Cool. I should be all good to do it, then. I'll make a post on here sometime tomorrow. Maybe call me out in the comments, just in case something doesn't work out. Or vice versa. Any specific location suggestions?

LOL

I really dislike the FF. It just looks like a pregnant F12. Of course I don't really like wagons in general.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 22:40 |
|
I agree. The FF shouldn't even classify as a Ferrari in my book. Too bland and conventional. I love most wagons, admittedly. The FF is more of a shooting brake, in my opinion. While I don't mind some shooting brakes, Ferrari just doesn't need one.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 23:49 |
|
Will do. I'll be getting off work right at 6:30 so I'll be on my way to Waterford then; I'm only about 25 minutes away. I don't know any particular landmarks or notable locations, so I'll leave it to you.
The most prominent thing that comes to mind though, is this Arby's with a big sign on Telegraph. It's next to a Bell Tire.
![]() 11/05/2014 at 00:31 |
|
I've seen 5 of those roaming around town over the past year. Here's one I spotted
recently. like, this weekend recent.
![]() 11/05/2014 at 01:05 |
|
I mean I give them credit for something I feel their owners would actually use. The FF is so hideous, you have no choice but to be practical with it. It's so utilitarian.
![]() 11/05/2014 at 11:24 |
|
this would be my choice. The 360 kind of marked the point in Ferrari's history where I stopped getting excited about the cars they built. The 430 and f12 are alright, but there really hasn't been a Ferrari that I've been interested in since the 550
![]() 11/05/2014 at 12:19 |
|
FF, 612, 456, 412, 400.... Mondial.... really any of them with more than two seats... yuck.
![]() 11/05/2014 at 13:04 |
|
Don't like the FF, 612, or the Mondial too much. Honestly, though, I like the 456, 412, and 400. Not too sure why, but they look beautiful in a subtle kind of way.
![]() 11/05/2014 at 13:16 |
|
Yeah the 456 is probably the most appealing of the bunch, and the 400 and 412 have some sort of charm to them, like they're somehow not trying to hide what they are or be something that they're not.
The others though are just awful :)
